Public art implementation plan virtual meeting

The meeting will include a discussion of the results of the recent public art survey with time for questions and comments from the public.

Dunwoody, GA – July 29, 2020 – The City of Dunwoody will hold a virtual meeting to update the community on the public art implementation planning process, which is designed to bring an artful touch to public spaces, gathering places and projects. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on August 4 and can be accessed through Zoom or Facebook Live.

“We look forward to sharing the results of the recent public art survey, which provided us with important public input to help shape the process,” said Dunwoody Economic Development Director Michael Starling. “We’ll also go over elements of the proposed plan and take questions and comments.”

The meeting will feature a presentation by Todd Bressi, a consultant who specializes in public art, placemaking and urban design. He has spent several months working with the city, doing research and meeting virtually with art, business and civic organizations to identify actionable opportunities that best meet Dunwoody’s needs.

“Dunwoody’s residents have offered good ideas about how public art can build on the city’s aspirations and traditions,” Bressi said. “This meeting will offer everyone a first chance to see the ideas that are emerging and help us make sure we are on the right track.”

People who cannot participate in the meeting can share their comments on the Public Art Implementation Plan project page. The online comment form will be available on the city’s website after the meeting. Relevant documents and more details can also be found on the project page.

Dunwoody’s Public Art Implementation Plan will be presented to the Dunwoody City Council for consideration later this year. It will focus on the process for funding, approving and managing the kinds of projects envisioned in the 2018 Arts & Culture Master Plan.
