Dunwoody State of the City 2020 to focus on the future

The community is invited to a dessert reception and address by Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch on March 12.

Dunwoody, GA – March 2, 2020 – Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch will give her first State of the City address on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Dunwoody Methodist Church, located at 1548 Mt. Vernon Road. The event is free and open to all. It will begin with a dessert reception.

“I look forward to this opportunity to celebrate Dunwoody’s accomplishments and share my vision for the future,” Mayor Deutsch said. “I’m also pleased that so many young people who represent our future will be part of this special event.”

The Dunwoody High School Air Force JROTC will lead off the program with the Presentation of Colors. The Peachtree Charter Middle School Choir will sing the National Anthem, and the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by the Youth City Council.

The Dunwoody Sustainability Committee will also play an important role in the program by announcing the Sustainability Hero Award winners, based on nominations from the public submitted earlier this year. Senior Pastor Dan Brown of Dunwoody United Methodist Church and Senior Rabbi Spike Anderson of Temple Emanu-El will give a joint invocation. Volunteers with the Rotary Club of Dunwoody will help with the event, as well.

“We’re moving State of the City from the Perimeter area to the Dunwoody Village this year to focus on community,” Mayor Deutsch added. “I’m planning another address geared toward Dunwoody businesses next month.”

The business address is being organized by the Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber, Discover Dunwoody and the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts.
