Design process to begin for new park in Perimeter Center

Perimeter Center East Park would be city’s first neighborhood park in the Perimeter area of Dunwoody.

Dunwoody, GA – February 11, 2020 – The Dunwoody City Council unanimously approved funding on Monday night for design services for Perimeter Center East Park. The vote is an important step in establishing a neighborhood park in the Perimeter area of Dunwoody.

“This park is a priority for me,” said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “I’d like to see this completed by 2021, with children and families enjoying it as soon as possible.”

The park is located behind the new Endeavor Montessori School on Perimeter Center East. It’s walking distance from several Perimeter communities. It’s also accessible to residents of Georgetown by way of the new pedestrian bridge over the North Fork of Nancy Creek.

The City adopted the Perimeter Center East Park concept plan as part of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2017. That same year, the project was also identified as the top-ranked Phase I initiative of the Hotel Motel Tax Projects.

Design services will consist of survey work, architectural services, engineering services and geotechnical services for several park amenities, including a playground, picnic shelter, water feature, walking trail and restrooms.

City Council approved $45,000 for design services. Funding will come from the City’s hotel motel tax fund balance. Discussions about funding construction will come later.
