NEW DUNWOODY ALERT NETWORK PROVIDES CRITICAL
EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS AND UPDATES

Centralized Portal Offers Easy Access, Online Sign-Up for
Multiple City Communication Resources

Dunwoody, GA – May 29, 2013

Tomorrow, May 30 the City of Dunwoody will launch the Dunwoody Alert Network providing residents with expanded options to receive critical emergency information and communications outreach from the City while consolidating existing outreach efforts into a centralized portal at www.DunwoodyAlertNetwork.com.

The new Dunwoody Alert Network lets community members select what kind of information they would like to receive from the City and the method by which they would like to receive that information. Residents and businesses can request severe weather warnings, emergency information, news alerts, event notifications, or crime reports specific to their area. Users may subscribe to one or multiple notification programs and will be given the option of selecting if they would like to receive the alerts by email, text, or phone.

"CodeRed provides great flexibility for our citizens.  Citizens have the opportunity to choose the alerts they want to receive in the format of their choosing,” said Billy Grogan, Dunwoody Police Chief.

Tomorrow’s launch of the Dunwoody Alert Network coincides with the City’s launch of the CodeRED emergency alert system and CodeRED Weather Warning system.  CodeRED is a web-based service from the Emergency Communications Network, Inc. designed specifically for local governments to send personalized voice, email, and text messages to thousands of citizens in minutes.  The CodeRED Weather Warning system delivers severe weather warnings, flash flood warnings, and tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

The CodeRED launch will be conducted by phone with a test call going out tomorrow morning, early afternoon, to all publically listed numbers.  Interested residents and businesses that would like to sign up to receive calls, would rather be contacted by email or text, or would like to opt out of the system can do so through the Code Red link at www.DunwoodyAlertNetwork.com.

The Dunwoody Alert Network features access to Code Red, Interactive Defense, Submit a Tip, and Dunwoody News Alerts as well as access to all other City and Police social media channels. Residents can to register online to select which alerts they would like to receive by visiting www.DunwoodyAlertNetwork.com.
