City of Dunwoody Breaks Ground on Brook Run Park Improvements

Enhancements to three areas of Brook Run Park should be completed by the end of 2019.

Dunwoody, GA – April 9, 2019 – City leaders and community members gathered at Brook Run Park Tuesday to celebrate the start of important enhancements to Dunwoody’s largest park.

“This is big, and we are excited,” said Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal. “We worked hard to come up with a plan to satisfy everyone involved.”

Here are the key components of the $7.5 million project, which was developed with public input and direction from two park master plans:

  • A great lawn with a performance stage, terraced seating, expanded levels of open space, restrooms and an upgraded event pavilion
  • Two multi-sports fields with a concession stand, overlook plaza, improved parking, restrooms, and an added entrance from Barclay Drive.
  • A new covered picnic pavilion area, new restrooms and additional parking
  • Disc golf course

“We’ll build it right, and people will love it,” said Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton. “We expect to have the same success here that we’ve had with the new Ballfields at Brook Run Park.”

Reeves + Young was chosen to lead the construction project, which should be completed by the end of 2019.

“With the addition of these new fields, kids won’t have to leave Dunwoody to find the facilities they need,” said Neil McNab, Jr., Executive Director of the Chiefs Futbol Club. “This will keep them active, which helps in all other aspects of their lives.”
