Dunwoody Begins Search for Assistant City Manager

The City of Dunwoody Economic Development Director will fill the role on an interim basis.

Dunwoody, GA – March 27, 2019 – City of Dunwoody Assistant City Manager Jessica Guinn has been named the new Community Development Agency Director for Cobb County. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved her appointment during a meeting Tuesday night.

“It has been an honor to serve the City of Dunwoody for the last four years,” Ms. Guinn said. “I will miss the City and its outstanding team of professionals, but I am excited for the opportunity to serve my hometown, Cobb County.”

Ms. Guinn joined the City of Dunwoody in 2015. She made a clear impact as project manager for the renovation of the new Dunwoody City Hall, which was finished on time and under budget in 2018. She also took the lead in the development of “Create Dunwoody,” the arts and culture master plan that will guide the city’s arts and cultural initiatives. Most recently, Ms. Guinn was extensively involved in achieving the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Dunwoody and DeKalb County related to the administration of emergency medical services. The MOU has led to better coverage and ambulance response times for patients in Dunwoody.

“Jessica made a lasting impact here,” said Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton. “We’re grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best as she takes the next important step in her career.”

Ms. Guinn lives in Cobb County and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Kennesaw State University.

"We're excited to have Ms. Guinn in Cobb County," said Cobb County Manager Rob Hosack. "She is a visionary administrator who has worked in various sized governments as a Community Development leader. Jessica will bring a unique perspective to improve upon our positive community development initiatives in Cobb County."

Mr. Linton has started the search for a new Assistant City Manager. In the meantime, Dunwoody Economic Development Director Michael Starling will serve as Interim Assistant City Manager.
