Dunwoody Prepares for Super Bowl Sunday in Atlanta
Dunwoody is gearing up for the big game with Caffeine and Octane, hotel packages, enthusiastic volunteers and police on special duty.
Dunwoody, GA – January 11, 2019 - Super Bowl Sunday will start early in Dunwoody with Caffeine and Octane, the nation’s largest monthly car show that regularly attracts more than 2,000 vehicles and 15,000 fans. A record crowd is expected on February 3.
Caffeine and Octane is the only live event taking place on the morning of Super Bowl LIII. It’s also free and easy to access from downtown Atlanta on MARTA. The all-makes, all-models car show is held on the first Sunday morning of every month from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Perimeter Mall, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
“The impact of the Super Bowl stretches far beyond downtown Atlanta. Dunwoody is set to welcome thousands of visitors for the weekend and MARTA puts them just steps away from the action,” said Katie Williams, executive director of Discover Dunwoody. “And of course, football and cars are a natural combination, so we hope these visitors will check out Caffeine and Octane on Sunday morning before heading downtown for pre-game festivities.”
Four of seven Dunwoody hotels are sold out for the big weekend, but there is still availability for those who make last-minute plans to visit. Discover Dunwoody (www.cvbdunwoody.com/hotels/) can help with reservations.
Dunwoody Police are playing an important role in the Super Bowl security plan. Some will be wearing LIII commemorative badges this weekend.
Many Dunwoody residents are among the 10,000 who signed up as volunteers for the Super Bowl. Their volunteer shifts began last weekend.
