Dunwoody Finalizes Purchase of New City Hall Building

The City of Dunwoody signed the final sale and closing documents on the purchase a new city hall building.

Dunwoody, GA – August 31, 2016 – The City of Dunwoody signed the final sale and closing documents on the purchase of the three and a quarter-acre lot and building at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road which will soon become the city’s first wholly-owned city hall complex.

The closing documents, signed by Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal and Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton, detailed the purchase of the 45,000 gross-square foot building for a final cost of $8.05 million.

“This is a great day for all citizens of Dunwoody. We are the very proud owners of our own city hall,” said Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal. “We purchased a fantastic building situated in a central location to serve the residents and businesses of our city.”

With slightly more overall square footage than the space currently leased by the city (located at 41 Perimeter Center East) the city plans to conduct minor modifications to the new building in the coming months to create a well-organized, efficient office space for the entirety of city staff, police department, municipal court, and city council chambers.

The city anticipates moving into the new city hall space by the end of Q1 2018 and following the completion of all planned modifications to the building.

It’s Official, Dunwoody Owns its First City Hall -- Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal (seated) signs the closing paperwork on the new Dunwoody City Hall building at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Looking on are (L-R) Dunwoody Finance Director Chris Pike, Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton, Attorney Jim Woodward of Gray Pannell & Woodward LLP, and Dunwoody City Clerk Sharon Lowery.
