Dunwoody Hosts Public Meeting for Parks Master Plan Update

The City of Dunwoody invites citizens and community members to participate in its Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan update process.

Dunwoody, GA – December 23, 2015 – The City of Dunwoody encourages citizens and community members to participate in its Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan Update process. All residents, business owners, special interest groups, and other any other interested parties are invited to attend the Public Forum on Tuesday January 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Williams Room at the DeKalb County Public Library, Dunwoody Branch.

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update project will examine existing recreational facilities, programs, services, conduct a comprehensive community input process, and help determine the current and future parks and recreation service levels for the community.  The plan and update process prioritizes the needs and desires for upgrading existing and potentially creating new facilities and services.  The Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update will help to determine the phasing, timing, funding, and other details for these projects and services for the next several years.

“One of the important factors of the plan is to determine the priorities of recreational facilities and activities, funding sources available, potential partnerships and support to implement the needs of the community," said Brent Walker, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Dunwoody. “In addition to this public forum, a statistically-valid survey will be conducted with randomly selected Dunwoody residents.  The results will be utilized during the community input process and throughout the master plan update.”

The City of Dunwoody has hired GreenPlay, LLC, a nationally-known parks and recreation management consulting firm headquartered in Louisville, CO, to oversee the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update process.  Any questions regarding the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update or the public forum can be directed to Brent Walker via email at brent.walker@dunwoodyga.gov.
