DeKalb County Reissuing Dunwoody Absentee Ballots

The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections is reissuing all of the 2015 City of Dunwoody municipal election absentee voting ballots due to incorrect ballot listings and missing at-large candidate information.

Dunwoody, GA – October 16, 2015 – The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections is reissuing all of the 2015 City of Dunwoody municipal election absentee voting ballots due to incorrect ballot listings and missing at-large candidate information.

The City of Dunwoody notified the DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections office after determining the initial absentee ballots included candidate information pertaining to individual city voting districts instead of the required citywide, at-large candidate information. Absentee ballots were mailed out to approximately 138 Dunwoody residents who requested to complete an absentee ballot prior to Election Day.

The City of Dunwoody was informed by representatives for the County Board of Registration and Elections that their office would mail a second corrected absentee ballot and a pre-stamped return envelope and explanation to all voters who have already been sent an absentee ballot.  The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections is working closely with Kennesaw State University Center for Elections to address all aspects of the ballot the issue.

All registered City of Dunwoody residents who requested and were mailed an absentee ballot should receive a new corrected ballot from the DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections by Thursday, October 22, 2015. The Board office requests anyone who does not receive a corrected absentee ballot by October 22 to please contact the Board office at 404-298-4020.

The error was caught in time to ensure the correct citywide “at-large” candidate information will be included within the Election Day ballot database as well as those registered voters who choose to participate in early voting at the county elections office.
