Dunwoody Invites Community to Talk Implementation on May 28
The City of Dunwoody invites community members to talk implementation at a public workshop for Shape Dunwoody, the five-year update of the Comprehensive Plan on Thursday, May 28 (6-8pm).
Dunwoody, GA – May 18, 2015 – The City of Dunwoody invites community members to talk implementation at a public workshop for Shape Dunwoody, the five-year update of the Comprehensive Plan on Thursday, May 28 (6-8pm). The “logistics setting” Work Program Workshop will focus on the five-year, short-term action plan for implementing the plan.
Shape Dunwoody Workshop 5
Thursday, May 28 (6:00-8:00pm)
Dunwoody City Hall
Council Chambers
41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 103
Dunwoody, GA 30346
Workshop format includes at-your-own pace, feedback activities beginning at 6:00, a brief presentation at 6:30, and small group discussions from 6:45-8:00. Activities will:
· Build on input collected at the four preceding Shape Dunwoody workshops held earlier this year;
· Provide opportunities for feedback on draft plan content developed in response to public input to date, specifically priority needs and opportunities for the city’s future as well as the vision and priorities for the city’s unique character areas;
· Give special focus to community topics that require further exploration and community discussion, including community services, economic development, sustainability, and the important connection between land use and transportation; and
· Ask community members to help identify the role that the city and its partners should play in implementation.
The Shape Dunwoody planning process is collecting input over a five-month period to help inform the five-year update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. Modifications to the draft plan will be made via public input as well as technical analysis completed by the planning team. The May workshop is the fifth meeting in a series of six that will be held through June. The final “Open House” workshop will focus on review of the draft plan update. Community members are also invited to join the Shape Dunwoody discussion online at www.connectdunwoody.com.
The updated plan will be reviewed by both the Atlanta Regional Commission and Department of Community Affairs prior to being considered for action by the City Council. The final June workshop will be followed by public hearings.
The city’s existing Comprehensive Plan was developed in 2010, shortly after Dunwoody incorporated. The Comprehensive Plan is the preeminent legal document guiding future development in Dunwoody and provides the city with a roadmap on long-range policy direction for land use, transportation, economic development, housing, public facilities, inter-governmental agreements along with its natural and cultural resources. The update will address each of these planning areas while giving a special focus to economic development.
