Underage Alcohol Sales Operation

In an effort to reduce alcohol-related underage drinking problems, the Dunwoody Police Department, working with agents from the Georgia Department of Revenue, recently conducted an undercover underage alcohol sales operation.

In an effort to reduce alcohol-related underage drinking problems, the Dunwoody Police Department, working with agents from the Georgia Department of Revenue, recently conducted an undercover underage alcohol sales operation.


Nine of the thirteen checked locations refused to sell alcohol to minors. The Dunwoody Police Department would like to commend each of these businesses for working to protect our community and keep our youth safe and sober.  They are: 


• Total Wine, 124 Perimeter Center West
• Exxon, 77 Perimeter Center East
• BP, 5418 Chamblee Dunwoody Road
• Chevron, 5465 Chamblee Dunwoody Road
• Chevron, 4249 Dunwoody Club Drive
• Shell, 5020 Winters Chapel Road
• Chevron, 6900 Peachtree Industrial Blvd
• Dunwoody Food Mart, 4639 N Shallowford Road
• Shell, 4479 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

 

Four businesses sold alcohol to minors. They are:


• Perimeter Bottle Shop, 4719 Ashford Dunwoody Road
• Dunwoody Beverage, 1418 Dunwoody Village Parkway
• Mini Food Mart, 6890 Peachtree Industrial Blvd
• BP, 4368 N Peachtree Road


The individuals that sold alcohol to underage individuals were cited and released by officers. They also face sanctions from the Georgia Department of Revenue.


According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, excessive drinking contributes to more than 4,300 deaths among people below the age of 21 in the United States each year. The Dunwoody Police Department regularly uses alcohol sales compliance checks as a tool in our efforts to reduce underage drinking and the many issues that stem from it.
