The victim has been identified as 45-year-old James Curtis Jones of Dunwoody. Mr. Jones was a resident of the Arrive Perimeter Apartments.

The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Roy McClendon-Thompson of Ellenwood.

******ORIGINAL RELEASE******

On April 8th, 2019 at 05:20 AM, the Dunwoody Police Department received numerous 9-1-1 calls regarding screaming and shots fired in the area of the Arrive Apartments. Dunwoody Police officers arrived minutes later and discovered a male in the parking deck with gunshot wounds to his chest. Officers and DeKalb paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim, but the victim died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as a 45-year-old male resident of the Arrive Perimeter Apartments.

The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old male resident of Ellenwood. The victim and suspect were known to each other. The identities of the victim and suspect are being withheld at this time pending family notifications.

On April 8th, 2019, Dunwoody Police Detectives, along with officers from the DeKalb County Police Department, went to Ellenwood in an attempt to locate the suspect. The suspect fled from officers in a vehicle and officers pursued the suspect into Clayton County. Once in Clayton County, the suspect was involved in a vehicle accident and died from his injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the crash in Clayton County.

Dunwoody Police Detectives are still investigating what led up to the fatal shooting.
