Dunwoody Police Department's 10th Anniversary Open House

The Dunwoody Police Department is turning 10! Chief Billy Grogan and the men and women of the Dunwoody Police Department invite Dunwoody residents, visitors and businesses to help us celebrate ten years of serving the City of Dunwoody.

On April 1, 2019, the Dunwoody Police Department will open their doors to the public from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for a rare “behind-the-scenes” look at many areas otherwise restricted to the public. Visitors will be granted “back-door access” to a self-guided tour through our facilities as various Dunwoody Police and Court staff members will be on hand to answer questions or share a casual chat.

Check out our brand new state-of-the-art Court Room and Prisoner Transport/Holding areas. Make your way out to the parking lot area where there will be a blue-light display of our various emergency response vehicles such as our original Crown Vic Patrol Car, current Patrol SUV’s, Prisoner Transport Van, Mobile Command Unit and North Metro SWAT’s armored truck, just to name a few. Officers and SWAT members will be on-hand to demonstrate equipment and answer all your questions. After that incredible experience, you’ll make your way to our Crime Lab and Property and Evidence areas, where our Crime Scene Technician will be on-hand for short demonstrations of how evidence is collected and analyzed. You can then take a seat in our Police Roll Call Room where Dunwoody Patrol Officers are briefed and uniforms are checked before their shifts. Not to be missed is our Criminal Investigations area where crucial interviews take place and crimes are solved. Take a “peek” into our high-tech Electronic Forensic Lab; view our latest Crime Zone Map; and pick up valuable Crime Prevention pamphlets.

On display in the City Hall main foyer and second level landing will be various stations of interest such as a historical display case with several artifacts showing our humble beginnings, Police Explorer and Officer Recruitment representatives, Safety Program information and free giveaways, just to name a few.

Join Chief Billy Grogan at 5:30 p.m. as he shares stories of the Dunwoody Police Department’s start-up in 2009 through its progression to what we currently offer in public safety services today.

Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to CELEBRATE, REMINISCE and DISCOVER with the Dunwoody Police Department!
