Arrest of Carjacking Suspect

The Dunwoody Police have arrested a juvenile male for the carjacking of an Uber driver that occurred on May 1, 2017.

The Dunwoody Police have arrested a juvenile male for the carjacking of an Uber driver that occurred on May 1, 2017.

At approximately 9:20 a.m. on May 1, 2017, the Dunwoody Police received a report of a carjacking that had just occurred in the 5400 block of Winters Chapel Rd. The victim was an Uber driver that was carjacked at knife point by a customer they recently picked up. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle and was located within minutes by an officer responding to the area.

Dunwoody Police Officer Y. Baum was able to stop the carjacked vehicle and take the suspect into custody without further incident. The juvenile suspect has been charged with Hijacking of a Motor Vehicle (F), Aggravated Assault (F), and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime (F). The Juvenile was booked into the DeKalb County Youth Detention Center.
