Assault at Perimeter Mall

On Friday April 14, 2017 at approximately 9:40 pm, a fourteen year old female was the victim of an assault and theft at Perimeter Mall.

On Friday April 14, 2017 at approximately 9:40 pm, a fourteen year old female was the victim of an assault and theft at Perimeter Mall. The juvenile victim was walking with several other people when an unknown male approached her in the parking lot and forcefully removed her hijab headscarf while yelling “terrorist” at her. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a white male.

“Dunwoody is a very diverse community, welcoming people of all faiths.  Therefore, an incident such as this one is unusual.  The Dunwoody Police Department is committed to protecting our citizens and will conduct a thorough investigation.  Please contact Detective Waldron if you have any information that would assist in our efforts to identify and arrest the suspect” said Chief Billy Grogan.

The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Georgia) today offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.

The Dunwoody Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible for this crime. Anybody that may have witnessed the incident or that has information regarding the suspect in this crime is asked to contact Detective Waldron at (678) 382-6911 or tim.waldron@dunwoodyga.gov .
