Theft by Shoplifting

The Dunwoody Police Department is investigating a theft by shoplifting that occurred at Von Maur, located at 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road inside Perimeter Mall.

Incident:    Theft by Shoplifting
Date:          December 15, 2016
Location:   Dunwoody, Georgia

On 12/13/16 the suspect, Doris Payne, entered Von Maur and concealed a Lagos diamond necklace (valued at $1,995.00) in her pocket before exiting the store without paying for the necklace.  She was stopped and detained by loss prevention officers until she was arrested and taken into custody by Dunwoody Police Department Officers.

Ms. Payne was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where she will remain until her first appearance (bond) hearing at the DeKalb County Magistrate Court.

There has been significant interest from the media into the arrest of Ms. Payne due to her colorful past and her being featured in a documentary titled “The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne.”
