Atlanta Kosher BBQ Competition-Update

On October 18th, 2015 the Dunwoody Police Department participated in the 3rd Annual Kosher BBQ Competition at Brook Run Park.

Incident: Update-Atlanta Annual Kosher BBQ Competition
Date:  October 18th, 2015 
Location: 4770 N Peachtree Rd, Dunwoody, GA   


On October 18th, 2015 the Dunwoody Police Department participated in the 3rd Annual Kosher BBQ Competition at Brook Run Park.  The Dunwoody Police Department team was comprised of Sgt. Curtis Clifton (Dunwoody PD), Officer Trey Nelson (Dunwoody PD), and Officer Abrem Ayana (Brookhaven PD).  Twenty-five teams began "smoking" Saturday, October 17 at 8:30 pm.  Participants prepared beef brisket, beef ribs, chicken, and baked beans. 


The charitable fundraising event raised money for the Hebrew Order of David, ICareAtlanta (icareatlanta.org), the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Gift of Life, The Jewish Home Life Communities, and JScreen.


After scrutiny by Kansas City-style judges and votes of roughly 5,000 attending guests, the Dunwoody Police Department team received two trophy awards.  The team officially placed 3rd in beef ribs and was declared "Police vs Firemen" Champion.
