Ashford Dunwoody Commuter Trail

Ashford Dunwoody Road

This project proposes to develop separated pedestrian and bicycle facilities along  Ashford Dunwoody Road between Hammond Drive and Mount Vernon Road.

These improvements will help connect the office communities with the commercial businesses and residents along the Ashford Dunwoody Road corridor. Extending non-motorized transportation options in the Perimeter area will increase the geographic reach of the Dunwoody MARTA station. These pathways are one of the ways the City is meeting the “the last mile” connectivity challenge in this critical geographic area of Georgia’s transportation system which employs over 125,000 people.

The business community is providing over half of the financial support for this project through the Perimeter Community Improvement District (PCID) and the City of Dunwoody is contributing funding through the hotel/motel tax fund for tourism development. The project is planned in two phases. Phase 1 is adjacent to Perimeter Mall as shown in the Ashford Dunwoody Phase I link in the side bar. The final design of this section has been completed with construction anticipated to begin in 2020.

Phase 2 continues from the north end of the mall property to Mount Vernon Road. The conceptual design for this section is currently being developed and was presented at a public meeting on January 23, 2020. The final engineering design for Phase 2 will be completed in early 2021.
