Dunwoody Park - Lower Baseball Field Improvements
Through the Facilities Improvement Partnership Program, the City Council approved Dunwoody Senior Baseball organization’s request to make improvements to the lower baseball field. The approved project includes both the replacement of the catching dome with a fence and updating of the tiered spectator seating.
The project will improve safety by eliminating the risk of foul balls rebounding from the dome, improve usability by allowing catchers to field foul balls, reduce the potential for retaining wall failure behind home plate, and improve spectator viewing for games.
Project Phase – Construction
Working with the busy schedules of the different Dunwoody Senior Baseball leagues, the construction effort began in earnest in August. The original catching dome and wooden retaining wall seating has been removed and the new backstop fencing and concrete retaining wall seating has been installed.
